Few types of training attract as many myths as CrossFit. Some are half-truths; most are flat wrong. If something you've heard has been holding you back, let's clear it up.
Backwards. You get fit by starting. Every workout is scaled to your level, and our Fundamentals program exists specifically to bring beginners in safely. Regardless of your age, background or starting point, there's a version of the workout for you.
Any physical activity carries some risk — including sitting on the couch for twenty years. CrossFit done well is coached, scaled and technique-first, which is exactly why we insist on Fundamentals and keep our classes small. Good coaching is the difference.
Our members span a huge range of ages and abilities, from complete novices to seasoned athletes. The training is the same; the loads and movements are simply scaled to the individual.
You lift what's appropriate for you. Coaches adjust the weight to your ability, and technique always comes before load. Nobody is handed a heavy barbell on day one.
Building significant muscle takes years of deliberate effort and eating. What most members actually notice first is improved strength, better body composition, more energy and a body that simply does more.
The community is intense — in how welcoming it is. Small, coached classes mean people get to know you fast. Many members say the support and friendships are the reason they keep coming back.
You're not competing with anyone else in the room. You're working at your level, and the only comparison that matters is where you were last month. That's the whole point.
The best way to bust a myth is to see for yourself. Book a free fitness consultation at our Balcatta gym and ask us anything.
