If you've looked into starting CrossFit at TandEm, you'll have seen that every new member completes our Fundamentals program before jumping into group classes. It's not a hurdle — it's the smartest way to start, and here's why.
Fundamentals is a series of three one-hour sessions with a certified CrossFit coach. Over those sessions, you'll learn the core movements that show up again and again in CrossFit workouts: the squat, the deadlift, the presses, and the basics of gymnastics and conditioning. The sessions are designed for complete beginners — no experience required.
The cost is $220 for the three sessions. Because they run outside our regular class times, they're scheduled around you and your availability.
CrossFit is intense, varied, and effective precisely because it uses functional movements performed at higher intensity. But intensity without technique is how people get hurt. Fundamentals teaches you the movements properly up front, so that by the time you're in a busy group class, you already move well. You'll get more out of every workout because you're not spending class time relearning the basics.
Fundamentals is also where you meet your coaches and start to feel at home. By the end of the three sessions you won't just know how to move — you'll walk into your first group WOD knowing what to expect and who's got your back.
Once you've completed Fundamentals, you're ready to join our Group WOD classes and train alongside the rest of the community.
